Meet Chef Suzyo


It all started when...

I was born in Zambia, where I came from a household of cooks.  My love for cooking was ignited when I fried my first egg at just five years old. After that, watching my Mother and Grandmother cook traditional African and Indian meals from our heritage gave me the passion to learn and hone my own cooking skills.

I started my culinary journey at California Culinary Academy in 2009.  Shortly after my schooling was completed I began an 8 month internship in San Francisco at Baker & Banker where I acquired a great amount of knowledge and skills. After my internship I moved back home to Seattle where for three years I was able to put my talents to use as a lead cook at Microsoft.  During my spare time I began cooking for my colleagues and the ability to connect on a more personal level with those who I was cooking for while providing them with meals that I had so thoughtfully prepared became a new passion.  

While I was grateful for my experiences in Seattle, I missed San Francisco so much that I moved back in 2013. I began working as a cook in the medical field, where I could do the cooking I'm so passionate about while connecting with those I served.  The position enabled me to cater to many different dietary needs, including gluten-free, low/high cholesterol, diabetic, paleo, vegan/vegetarian, and even the special diets required by patients going through chemotherapy.  I tailor all my meals to fit the client’s dietary needs and preferences to ensure they enjoy their meals while still maintaining their lifestyles.

Cooking has always brought joy and passion to my life & I hope to share that with you at Drink, Eat, Laugh.
